Brian O’Connor is a surrealistic painter with over 30 years of experience. He has created phantasmal scenes of illusion and mystery. He’s known for his use of metaphor, with his paintings becoming a language of emotion, memory, and ideas, rendering figures within a range of realism; from classical, to caricature, to cartoon. Using satire and absurdity, Brian’s work explores sociopolitical narratives of the somewhat absurd, and dives headlong into the brokenness of modern life.
Recently, Brian was the subject of a recent documentary, Painting Gray, which explores his affliction with a rare form of dementia known as PCA. The film explores the effects of this debilitating disease through the lens of his life, his community and his prolific artwork.
